Designed by Nazeefah Khatib & Wardah Safi
Pioneers of hijab on the SA Fashionweek runway, this sister duo always manage to highlight the modest style of fashion throughout the ages and various cultures, as the status quo.
This collection draws its inspiration from the Renaissance, an era known for its cultural advancements. Style influences drawn from this period include high necklines and surface ornamentation such as applied trims. Other structural elements also reminiscent of the Renaissance, are the various sleeve types ranging from the finestrella sleeve to the bell which are seriously trending this season.
Brocade and heavy weight fabrics have been used generously to create great volume in dress structures. Tones of navy and green provide an intense mood to the collection. All in all, encapsulating a romantic feel perfectly suited to a Winter feel.
To complete the look as seen in these pictures, Wardah Safi has been hosting live instagram tutorial sessions on scarf styling. Follow her on @wardahsafi for further details.
